Bhool Bhulaiyaa: Expect the unexpected in this suspenseful drama with a bit of Akshay Kumar's trademark humor thrown in. This movie is engrossing, scary, and unpredictable. Vidya Balan proves that she is a talented actress - how knew someone so beautiful could be so terrifying? Amisha Patel is only eye candy and Shiney Aduja is decent. Also - the title song is criminally catchy. By the way, as far as I can tell, the title loosely translates to "Your Words are a Maze."
Eklavya: Not even the abundance of talented performers could save this silly, self-obsessed, nonsensical tale. In a word: lame
Humko Deewana Kar Gaye: Predictable, but enjoyable nonetheless. Rent this if you want a sappy, romantic movie with attractive people (who have great chemistry, despite the fact that Katrina is not a great actress) and decent songs. This movie is the poster child for cotton-candy Bollywood.
Race: The main attraction of this movie is the songs. There are several that are sure to be blaring in the ears of gyrating teenagers in clubs for years to come. It isn't a great movie, but it is a decent one. Some of the plots twists are far-fetched, but they keep the movie from going stale in what could have been a cliche action flick. Also - this movie is a lot more sexual than lots of Bollywood films - so whether that is a bonus or a drawback to you, be sure to keep it in mind.
Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke: Silly and unbelievable. Aishwarya's character is an odd mix of rebellious teenager and passive, downtrodden Indian woman in a way that does justice to neither. Abhishek falls for her for all the wrong reasons, and I am not just talking about her physical beauty. The songs are nothing speacial - and there are far too many of them. On the other hand, there are some cute moments, and Aishwarya is incredibly gorgeous, as always.
Dil Hai Tumhaara: Charming and silly - this is a fun movie with decent songs, attractive leads, and a love triangle between three good people. There is some familial drama, some impersonation, a very odd puppet, and two bumbling crooks who have a lot of problems with their wigs. The relationship between the sisters is very sweet and Priety in particular is adorable. Though the beginning of the movie gets annoying at times, it gets better as it goes along. The one serious issue this movie tackles - the taboo of illegitimate children in society and how their parentage affects their lives - is fairly well done. I enjoyed myself.
Billu: This is a touching movie about a poor, honest man who can't seem to catch a break until a famous friend who may or may not remember him comes to town. There are fabulous songs, cameos from a variety of actresses, and a great tribute to King Khan himself. However, this movie dragged on and on, detracting from its impact, and I would have liked to have seen more interaction between Ifran and Lara.
